Taal, gesproken en geschreven, is een instrument ontwikkeld door de soort homo sapiens zodat twee of meer homines sapientes met elkaar kunnen communiceren. Ik vraag mezelf af wanneer de hersenschim is ontstaan dat de taal ook een waarheid zou uitdrukken die verder gaat dan de verzameling van alle subjecten die deze als waarheid aanvaarden. 

 It was Georges Bataille, writing in a catalogue essay for the 1947 exhibition La Surréalisme at the Galerie Maeght in Paris, who noted that "the absence of myth is also a myth." It implied , he believed, a breakdown of communication, a breakdown of society's own self-understanding. It was perhaps "the only true myth."
